If you have a Windows dedicated server running Parallels Plesk Panel 8.6 or lower or are using the DNS service BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Domain) with a version lower than 9.4.2 or Microsoft DNS without patch 951748, we advise you to update your DNS service.
Windows Dedicated Servers with No Control Panel running Microsoft DNS Run windows update to allow Windows to download and install all necessary security patches.
As long as that negative entry sits in your DNS cache, your box will continue to give you a cannot find server error. Drop to a command box and type: If you wish to stop XP from placing negative entries into cache, you can make this change in your registry. Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Current Control Set\Services\ Dnscache\Parameters 2. Build a new DWORD value called Negative Cache Time and give it a value of 0 I believe the default time is 5 minutes.
By cleaning out your DNS cache, you can fix this problem. I always use zero for my default time, but I think the value above is in seconds.
However, if you are running Simple DNS Plus (which also caches DNS lookups) on a computer on the local network, then there is nothing gained by also running this service on local computers - it will only use extra resources to cache the same data again.
When I did that and pinged computer B , the computer A was able to ping to it successfully when it was on the domain. If i ping from any PC to any PC which have there IPs changed face this problem. The other problem could be that Computer A is not getting the right DNS. Another thing, could be the local DNS cache on computer A is not being refreshed.
This service caches DNS lookups for the local computer only.
This potentially saves a bit of bandwidth and makes DNS lookups a bit faster by preventing DNS lookups from being sent over the Internet connection if the same data has recently been requested on this same computer.
It's also advisable to do a ipconfig /flushdnson the computer that you are pinging from, to make sure that its resolver cache is flushed.
I have ipconfig /flushdns and /registerdns Even after that it still doesnt ping.
